The GI Bill is actually several Department of Veterans Affairs administered education programs. These GI Bill programs are designed to help active duty, Guard and Reserve service-members, veterans and their families earn a degree, certification, vocational training or attend trade school. GI Bill programs differ depending on the user's status. The newest program, known as the Post-9/11 GI Bill, can cover up to 100% of your tuition, fees, books, and living expenses - tax-free.

As the U.S. Navy moved further into the 21st century it was time for a new look. As for me I served from 1978 to 1995 and during that time the navy had gone back to a more traditional look as they re-introduced the cracker jack uniform. Yet in today's more technically advanced military force there was a need for a new look. Today's Navy men and women are truly a new bread as they are much brighter and come form a more technological up bringing its was important to connect the new uniform with today's styles and trends. As I see it the new uniform gives today's Navy men and women a fresh new look. I feel that the uniform still exhibits the Navy's past and present traditions.

Honor Fidelity and Zeal

One day my daughter and I were looking through an old scrap book of some photo's and awards I received while serving in the U.S. Navy. She quickly asked me what the awards and medals meant. The one award that attracted her attention was my good conduct award. The words honor, fidelity and zeal are words attached to this particular award. I simply told her that the Navy was based on honor, fidelity and zeal. Those three words have stayed with me long after I left the Navy. In looking over my 17 years those traits have stayed a part of my character not only during my naval service,but with any company that I worked for after I retired.I'm proud to have served and to belong to a life long brotherhood of both men and women who have served in the armed forces and who are serving now. I would like to thank them all for there service.
